Yes! It’s called Ofuroya - which is the Japanese word for bath. It is a really relaxing experience.
It’s tucked on a street off Victoria Parade.
Men and women are separate (because you can’t / don’t wear bathers). So if you feel self-conscious in the all-together-now this is probably not your thing….
They give you a kimono, a towel and a wash cloth and you can stay as long as you like. First you shower (soap and shampoo suppled) and then you can relax in the hot bath. Afterwards - you can relax in the tatami room and have a Japanese snack / meal / drink.
I go go in winter on those FREEZING days where you just can’t get warm. I usually go alone but some people go with a friend.
A very genuine experience….
My sister went there last year and absolutely loved it. I plan to give it a go with her next time.
thanks very much for that! your responses have been very helpful :O)
Its great _ I go every month for a few hours of totally immersion in teh warm/hot baths then slip about in the tatami room for a read of the papers and a tea.
