What was the first ever CD you bought?!
Published 1 year, 11 months ago in Entertainment. What was the first CD, tape or record you ever bought or received!?!
A question that lets us look back on memory lane.. we’d either look back and feel pretty proud of our taste in music or cringe and shake our heads thinking.. ‘what was i thinking?!!!’
My first Cd was when i was in year 8 back in ‘98 and it was the Backstreet Boys Backstreet’s back album and i feel pretty embarrassed revealing this.. haha

Joe Cocker Album - Cocker Happy (settle down children)
Mine was a kids Cd, can’t think of the artist but he was very well known at one stage.
My First one that wasn’t a kids Cd was a single and it was Oasis - Wonderwall
The first records (singles) that were bought for me were Skippy the Bush Kangaroo and Rubber Duckie (Ernie from Sesame street). The first single I ever bought myself, was Boney Moroney (Hush). Hey, don’t bag the BSB! I took my 9 yo daughter to their concert last year and guess what? I loved them! And I’m 44! When I was 17, I was obsessed with Duran Duran and lead singer, Simon Le Bon. Went to 5 of their 7 concerts at The Palais in St. Kilda.
My first ever record was when I was 6 yr old It was a 45/Jonny Nash -I can see clearly now. My first full length album followed the following year the amazing SKYHOOKS and ego is not a dirty word. but the first one I ever saved and paid for was a tape of SWEET alas I have forgotten the title I was probably about 12 ish then
At age 6 I was given a record 45″ alice in wonderland. At age 10 I was given my first 33′ LP The Mixtures. MY very own pocket money bought me my first ever Album Skyhooks LIVIN IN THE SEVENTIES.From then on I was hooked and ended up with over 400 Albums and 1000 singles. Skyhooks, I have every record they ever made even singles that didn’t go to album. In 1975 my friend and I were escorted to every Skyhooks concert in Victoria(we were only 12) by my mum.All 37 of them. The Sweet album you mention above I have still got and it is Ballroom Blitz. My 2 kids now 11 and 12 both love Skyhooks, Sweet, AC/DC, Hush, Suzie Quatro, and others as it has taken me alot of money to convert my record and cassette collection to CDs but for the 60s and especially 70s music it’s money well spent.
The Aqua CD, complete with “Barbie Girl”… they’re not half bad, despite what people might say.
I was in primary school… Aqua was teh coolxorz!!1 back then anyway.
when I was 11, I bought AC/DC “back in Black” on cassette,
my first CD was Pink Floyd “Wish You Where Here”
Hey Lady Chaos, I’ve got that CD too! It’s lying around somewhere!
I always had tapes and stuff when i was little (mostly Bull Frogs and Butterflies), but for me the first time I got my own CD was when I was about 12, and I got the Queen Greatest Hits platinum collection for my birthday, after I begged my dad for the music to my new-found favourite band. Four or five years later, Queen is still my favourite band!!! Rock on, Freddie. xox
they were called records in my day…..try: Bay City Rollers…..!
Yeah, those were the days my friend we’d thought…………
my first cd was m2m and aaron carter. they were obviously cool att the time.
it also followed by boy bands eg.hanson and girl bands eg.spice girls in 1997.
i was one cool kid.
Mine was a Simon & Garfunkles Album. Bridge of Troubles Waters.. I was 15 years old.
My first tape was Vanilla Ice’s only ever compliled album - very cool!
And 100% Hits Volume 2 - Summer of 1993 - including Dee -lite’s “Groove is in the Heart” and Betty Boo just doin tha do.
First CD was probably 2 Unlimited “Tribal Dance” - oh man. I guess I was a nineties pop kid, ok? I was only eleven!
